Trees on the Move is the dedicated landscape division of LaMay’s Tree Service, specializing in the relocation of trees of all types and sizes throughout the New York Metro area.
In addition to our tree-moving expertise, we operate our own tree farm, providing a diverse selection of high-quality trees.
We employ the following methods:
- Tree Spade Method: Based on the size, location, and type of tree, we may utilize a tree spade for transplantation. We have a selection of three spade sizes (44″, 70″, and 90″), each designed to minimize disruption to the tree’s root system. This method preserves the roots and helps trees adapt more easily to their new location.
- Hand Digging: When a tree spade is not suitable, our team is highly skilled in the time-honored technique of hand digging. Trees and shrubs are expertly balled and burlapped, a meticulous process that plays a vital role in ensuring a successful relocation. This craftsmanship is a rare and valuable skill.
- Pneumatic Air Spade: In instances where traditional digging methods are not feasible, we utilize an air spade. This method removes soil from around the tree’s roots, allowing us to transplant it in a “bare root” state. We’ve achieved excellent results with this technique, particularly in challenging environments.
